Mark W. Miller, CEO/Founder of MW Miller Financial, Inc.
Mark Miller has spent the better part of his life helping people plan and invest wisely. He has been in the financial industry for overtwenty years and worked with such firms as IDS/American Express and Stern Brothers and Company. Mark specializes in counseling investors on secure ways to invest their money and make it last. With simple and practical advice, he has helped individuals cut income taxes, enhance their wealth and preserve and grow estate values.
Mr. Miller is a Registered Financial Consultant, as well as a nationally acclaimed financial author. His works include The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Being a Cheapskate, which is a fun look at saving a buck on just about everything. He has also authored The Sensible Saver, a common sense guide to saving and investing that covers numerous money topics. His newsletter, The Sensible Saver, has garnered over 12,000 subscribers worldwide. His most recent book, entitled Money For Life, A Guide to Retirement is full of useful strategies to help you find financial peace in retirement.
Mr. Miller has been featured in over 200 newspapers and magazines, such as The Kansas City Star, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, Money Magazine, Women’s Day, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Daily News, and has appeared as a financial expert on numerous radio and television shows nationwide. Mark has been invited to Washington, D.C. as a guest to several Senators and Congressmen and has received a personal commendation from the President of the United States for his efforts to help Americans with their money. In 2003, Mr. Miller also received the Businessman of the Year award from the Presidential Business Commission.
Mark received his degree in Political Science and Economics from the University of Kansas. His hobbies include golf, travel, KU basketball, church volunteer work, and saving a buck wherever he can. He lives in Kansas City with his wife Kelly, their daughter Ainsley and their son Brooks.
Fran Tarkenton, Tarkenton Financial, LLC
A well-respected athlete and highly regarded entrepreneur, Fran Tarkenton uses his insight in creating companies with the capacity to anticipate and profitably adapt to fluid circumstance.
Fran launched 15 companies over the last 25 years with revenues that range between $1 million to $142 million. He was a founding board member of Coca-Cola Enterprises. He also served on the Board of Directors of Sterling Software, the tenth largest software company in the world, as well as Blimpie International.
In 1980, Fran negotiated with and secured the participation of all of the major airlines in placing promotional advertising on airline ticket jackets. It was an industry first. Between 1980 and 1981 Fran produced 14 million ticket jackets per month. Fran was among the pioneers behind the launch of Guthy-Renker Corporation in 1986. Today it is the leading infomercial production company. Guthy-Renker Corporation introduced television spokesperson Tony Robbins to the world and is the promotional genius behind successes such as Power-Rider fitness products.
Fran is a founding partner in one of the fastest growing conference call companies in the U.S. He owns GoSmallBiz.com, a leading small business portal and consulting service provider. He partnered with Pre-Paid Legal Services to develop its Small Business Plan which is growing at a rate of 110% per year.
In 2003, he started Tarkenton Financial, a company focused on financial education and the benefits of fixed annuities and single premium life products. The company markets these services to the growing senior market through hundreds of representatives in the Tarkenton Financial Network.
Today, Fran continues to advise and counsel businesses. He helps identify new opportunities in fast changing environments and develop innovative channels of distribution. Above all, he believes his work should embody his vision, values and his passion. His philosophy is that there is only one reason for a business to exist-to provide products and services that enhance and improve the quality of life of its customer.
Fran Tarkenton understands what it takes to win in sports and business. As one of the NFL's all time great competitors, his leadership skills have been tested time and time again. He was inducted into the National Football League and Collegiate Football Halls of Fame. He was an All-American athlete at the University of Georgia. As quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, Fran took his team to the 1973, 1974 and 1976 Super Bowls. He set the all-time NFL passing records for the most touchdowns (342), the most yards gained passing (47,003) and the most completions. Those records stood for 17 years.
